Sausage Sizzler - Speedy Sites |

G'Day Sizzlers!
It has been one of those weeks. From the excitement of the 4th of
July, through to sitting around waiting for the cable guy. Albeit
it was my fault for sitting around yesterday, as I got the date
wrong. However I am now the proud owner of a high speed cable
connection.
I will have to be using the good old document weight feature in
HotDog to make sure I keep my web pages reasonably small. With
this new cable connection the pages are loaded almost instantly!
Quicker than I remember the cable working back in Iowa.
Note this is the last day to take advantage of the Sausage
Hosting offer below and get the new content management system for
free (when it is launched).
Read, learn and implement!
Keep on sizzling!

Changing the Color of Internet Explorer Scroll-bars
Have you ever wanted to customize the colour of your IE scroll
bars? Well here is a little snippet of CSS that allows us to
change the colour of scroll-bars from its standard colours. All
you have to do is insert the code given below between the HEAD
tags.
Look at the code and comment here:

HotDog's HTML Compressor
This week I want to look at gaining 'speed, precision and
control' through HotDog's HTML compressor (you can find it on the
Tools menu). It's a useful and surprising tool as it achieves
much more than what it says.
By compressing your HTML files you make the file smaller in size.
This makes downloading your website speedier. I thought I wrote
reasonably tight HTML until I discovered this wizard. Over a
large number of real, working files I achieved compression rates
of around 15%. That means my web pages are now loading 15% faster
than before. I repeated this with some popular websites and got
higher compression rates of around 20-25%. Over a single web page
it probably doesn't amount to much, but the effect is cumulative
the larger your web pages and web sites are. Altogether it adds
up to a faster Internet experience for your hard-earned visitor
and that can only be good.
There are also 5 easy-to-understand options within the
compression wizard, giving you additional precision and control
over how the compression is done. Selecting each one in turn, as
appropriate, gives additional compression rates.
In doing its job, HotDog's HTML compressor also 'scrunches' up
your code making it almost unreadable. This gives you greater
control in protecting your work because it really is quite
difficult to rip. For this reason HotDog cleverly requires you to
specify another filename for your compressed code so that you
will always be able to access your original, uncompressed work.
This kind of forward planning is typical of Sausage's products
and services and is essential in today's workplace as it saves
you time and frustration.
Why don't you download HotDog 7 now and see how much faster you
can make your web sites?
