Sausage Sizzler - Wireless Worries |
 |
| Editorial Decemeber 12th, 2002 |
G'Day Sizzlers!
I had a pretty bad week towards the end of last week as far as my
Internet access went. Here is the start of what was to be last
weeks issue:
"I am having a very hard time this afternoon doing anything. The
reason is because I am trying to use my new wireless router.
I have had it going by using the MAC address of my old Linksys
router, but today I decided to do it properly and notified my
broadband provider that I had updated my computer and I needed
the MAC address they have on record updated. For those of you who
do not know a MAC address is a unique alphanumeric code that is
unique to a piece of hardware. Broadband ISPs obviously use it to
look you down to using one computer. A router takes the place of
a computer, and as long as you do not swap your router you should
continue to get access just fine.
My friend Brian Stevens (of genxtek.com) seems to think it may
just take some time for the router to pick up the routes it needs
to use. So at the moment that is what I am letting the router do.
If you are reading this I must have Internet access now, as
otherwise I would not have been able to send this out."
Anyway I left the router with him over the weekend and he
determined that it was stuffed, dropping too many packets to be
working right. So I went and exchanged it for the third time and
with some nervousness installed the new one. Well I am glad to
say since then I haven't looked back! The wireless capabilities
mean I can work from anywhere and actually do. I am going to
drive my wife a bit batty.
So what is happening in this weeks issue? Just a couple of
Sizzler Spotlights and a SuperToolz review I am afraid. Why? well
personally I have been working on some big deals in the
background,. The team have been also pretty busy, and I believe
we will see the fruits of their labor next week possibly.
Keep on sizzling!

One of our veteran forum members, Giancarlo is helping a person
that is new tot he world of the web. His problem is getting
formmail set-up correctly.
I think this was about the first thing I had to get going, that
was even slightly interactive, when I was first working on web
sites.

Well the name of this program says it all! If you want to cover up or
simply flush out all the information your computer stores on where
you have been on the Internet this is the program for you!
Here is what it will clean up for you:
- Internet Cache
- Internet History
- Autocomplete history
- Erases the Start menu run history
- Erases Windows temp files
- Empties recycle bin
- Erases play lists for Real Player, Media Player and QuickTime
It does a few other things too, but you will have to have a play with
it yourself to see what! The great thing is it does all of this at
the click of a button!
The pro version which is $10 more allows you to have plug-ins for
other programs, plus has stealth mode, secure erasing and scheduling

Can you recommend forum software and job listing database software?
A relatively new forum member GFrankel, is after your
recommendations.
He is firstly in need of forum software, and secondly would like
something nice and easy to implement that would allow him to have a
database of job listings.
Please post your suggestions to:
